Education, Culture, and Society M.S.Ed. Capstone Portfolio

A community-based digital portfolio serves as a comprehensive capstone for students in this concentration, allowing students to share their learning, growth, and accomplishments in their chosen communities. Students build an interactive, dynamic, and public-facing website that reflects their professional and scholarly development in courses, highlights their impactful projects, and fosters connections with diverse stakeholders in the field. This capstone project exemplifies our commitment to experiential learning, innovation, and collaboration within the broader educational community. Students work on this portfolio in the Master’s Seminar  with careful supervision and guidance from instructors and peers throughout the year-long course. 

Each capstone portfolio is a one-of-a-kind collection of multimodal scholarship that demonstrates the range of academic material and skills that a student in the Education, Culture and Society M.S.Ed. program has mastered during their studies.

The portfolio is a public-facing show of your work in the ECS M.S.Ed. program that will be accessible on your personal website, which you will develop and launch with support from the instructors and TA’s in the master’s seminar. In addition to meeting the requirements of the course and being evaluated by ECS faculty in the spring, the capstone portfolio tells your story. It will represent your personal values and professional goals and will be tailored for and made available to an authentic public audience beyond Penn GSE. The portfolio is what one might call a “project with legs.” By this, we mean that it is designed to go out into the world, to exist– even thrive– beyond this course, and to have a meaningful impact on positive social change..
